Biographical / Historical
Stanley Falk (1926-1997) joined the Army in 1945 and was sent to Japan in June of 1946. Falk used his Army Japanese Language Program training at the University of Michigan to work as a language officer for the Allied Translator Interpreter Section (ATIS). After leaving ATIS, Falk worked in the Historical Office in Tokyo under General Douglas MacArthur. Once he returned to the U.S. as a civilian, he eventually became the Air Force chief historian.
