Biographical / Historical
Leon Hollerman (1916 - 2006) was born and raised in Rochester, New York in 1916, and later attended the University of Rochester in 1939 to study economics. He joined the Army in 1943 where his first role was a radio operator. During the Occupation, Hollerman was an international trade economist under General Douglas MacArthur with the Allied Powers Supreme Command. Upon returning to the U.S., he went on to earn his doctorate and became a professor of economics at Claremont Graduate School. His career was largely focused on economics in Asia. He passed away in 2006.
