This photograph album includes 155 photographs and miscellaneous documents, postcards, children's artwork, and invitations dating from the years 1953 - 1965. It documents the family life of Julius and Bea Bassin and their two sons, Arthur and Jay Nelson, in Washington Heights, a U.S. Armed Forces housing complex located in Shibuya, Tokyo, while Bassin was the Legal Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. It also includes photographs from the family's stay in Karachi, Pakistan, where Bassin continued his work with the State Department and in Norfolk, Virginia, where Bassin served as State Department Representative at the Armed Forces Staff College.
