IUMSWA Local 50 -- Portland, Maine, 1941-1946
This series documents the position of Local 50 in the Industrial Union of Marine and Shipbuilding Workers of America (IUMSWA) hierarchy and its community activities such as its participation in a baseball league. This series contains a significant amount of material concerning labor-management relations with the New England Shipbuilding Company. All materials relating to Local 50 including some from before and after Pettis's tenure as President, 1942 to 1945, are found in this series. This grouping includes agreements, business files, bylaws, correspondence, minutes of the local's different boards, and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) case files among other document types.
