This subseries contains files related to national politics and events in the United States during Hogan’s three terms as Representative for Maryland’s 5th District in the House of Representatives (1969-1975). Topics include: the May Day demonstrations and others in protest of the war in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos; “Vote of Life” petitions from various organizations, communities, and individuals who support the Human Life Amendment (1973); the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, Public Affairs Forum, Lobbying Clinic (1972); planning for America’s Bicentennial; national news on political corruption; Spiro T. Agnew; the French Parliamentarian Visit in 1969; campus unrest and campus tours by the U.S. Congressmen at various universities and colleges across the country; flooding and Hurricane Agnes (1972).

Materials include correspondence, petitions, newspaper clippings, reports, and audio recordings.
