D.C. - Area Filipino American Families, circa 1940s-2015
This series documents the lives of succeeding generations of Filipino Americans who settled in the D.C. area after World War II and the relaxation of immigration laws in 1965. These materials highilight the unqiue lives and stories of the Filipino immigrants and the communities they built as they adjusted to living in the United States and the challenges of integrating into a new culture that did not always accept or appreicate thier identities and heriage. Materials include photographs, documents, newspaper cippings, and ephemera.
