Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Roofs of Kamakura between the temple of the Goddess of Mercy and the beach to show thatch, tile, and a lack of paint. The headland beyond the arm of the bay that appears in the picture consists of volcanic ash that closely resembles loess."
