 Item — Box: 1, item: G-119

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "The pattern of cultivated and idle fields, all small, as land is being re-occupied by Okinawans after close of the campaign, this is the southern part where soils are Regosols and Reddish Brown Lateritic soils. Fields in right foreground are on Regosols from calcareous clays and associated Alluvial soils; borrow pits and most of highlands are underlain by limestone. Far skyline is sawtooth ridge of limestone defended so long by Japanese. Roads all built by Americans."
