Landscape of the Nakaoshi, April 14, 1948

 Item — Box: 1, item: H-86

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Part of Nakoshi or Haneji (northeast corner of Motobu peninsula), the rice plain beyond the village, the village of Miyagi, and the mountains. This shows part of the estuary of the stream in the foreground, the main street and highway through Nakoshi, the thatched and tiled roofs, the hedges or thickets between houses, and a few stone walls. The rice paddies are largely Akmaaru loam, beyond... which are Reddish-Brown Lateritic soils from greenstone in the terraced mountain slopes."
