Burned ore car next to hill with cave bunkers, March 12, 1948
Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Deep cut to show soil and regolith from the Almonguii agglomerates along the old right-of-way for the ore railroad leading to the washing mill. This cut is evidently a little poor for mining, though soil is gravelly with concretions. The caves or bunkers were evidently dug by the Japanese expecting invasion. The small cars, now wrecked and partly burned, hauled about a ton of ore apiece."
