Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Hilly landscape of red Latosols, part of them from volcanic tuffs and part from agglomerates, almost at north end of Babelthuap Island. Heavy forest with some coconut palms on lower slopes, grass with many pandanus and few coconuts on middle slopes, burned areas once in grass on upper slopes."
