Patch of cut tree saplings, March 19, 1948
Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Land being prepared for cultivation by slashing the saplings about 30 inches from the ground and leaving the tops where they fall. A few bananas have already been set out in this "garden" patch which consists of stony land, Brown Forest soil materials from phosphate. Angaur Island."
