Donald Quayle Collection

This collection primarily consists of LPs of Earplay, an award-winning radio drama anthology produced by WHA in Madison, Wisconsin for National Public Radio (NPR) from 1972 to 1981. The LPs include portions of the 1972-1977 seasons of Earplay; some include printed documents containing program information and continuity sheets. Additionally, there is a complete LP set of the anthology Ten New Plays: Radio Drama in Stereo, produced by WGBH in Boston, Massachusetts, from 1968; an accompanying printed booklet contains descriptions of each play and continuity notes. Donated by Donald Quayle (1930-2015), a broadcast journalist and NPR's first president.

This collection is open to the public and must be used in the Maryland room. Researchers must register and agree to copyright and privacy laws before using this collection.

Content Description

This collection primarily consist of LPs of Earplay, a radio drama anthology produced by WHA in Madison, Wisconsin, for National Public Radio. There is also a complete LP set of "Ten New Plays: Radio Drama in Stereo" produced by WGBH in Boston, Massachusetts, from 1968. Also included in the collection are material related to a public broadcasting reunion held in 2001.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The material was donated to the University of Maryland Libraries by Donald Quayle in Septmeber of 2001 and March of 2002.
