The University Publications Collection consists of a wide variety of printed materials produced by and about the various administrative units, academic departments, student groups, and athletic teams on the College Park campus.
This collection is unprocessed. This means that materials are in the same state we received them and have not been reviewed for content or condition. The collection may need to be screened prior to use. Please contact us before visiting the Special Collections reading room to view this collection.
Materials of a sensitive nature, such as those containing personally identifiable information, are restricted for 75 years or the life of the individual and may by screened and removed by special collections staff. Please speak with a staff member if you believe that materials have been unnecessarily removed.
Photocopies or digital surrogates may be provided in accordance with Special Collections and University Archives duplication policy. Copyright resides with the creators of the documents or their heirs unless otherwise specified. It is the researcher's responsibility to secure permission to publish materials from the appropriate copyright holder. Archival materials may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal and/or state right to privacy laws or other regulations. While we make a good faith effort to identify and remove such materials, some may be missed during our processing. If a researcher finds sensitive personal information in a collection, please bring it to the attention of the reading room staff.

The collection is divided into categories primarily based on the office or group which created the materials, and all call numbers assigned to these categories begin with the letters UPUB. Some categories (e.g., Buildings and Grounds, Fraternities and Sororities, Student Organizations, and University of Maryland Affiliated Campuses) have been further subdivided into specific units.
Select categories are represented in the Libraries' online catalog. Individual catalog records for many university publications are also in the catalog. These records may be located by doing a call number search in the Classic Catalog beginning with the letters UPUB. You may also locate materials in the University Publications Collection by selecting the Advanced Search option in the catalog and limiting your search by "Named Collection" using the term "University Publications."
