Gladys Marie Stigler was a student at Western High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Her scrapbook dates from 1917-1926 and chronicles her experiences as a student at Western as well as fellow students, faculty, theater programs and cast members, publications from Baltimore City College, and other topics.
Some of the photographs have silver mirroring. The binding is insecure and mostly detached. Loose plant material was found throughout the scrapbook but has been removed, placed in mylar and folders which can be found in the box.
This collection is open to the public and must be used in the Special Collections reading room. Researchers must register and agree to copyright and privacy laws before using this collection.
Materials are delicate and should be handled with care. A book cradle should be used when looking at the materials, and researchers should be aware of loose materials such as plant matter and detached programs.

This collection consists of the scrapbook of Gladys Marie Stigler, daughter of Charles R. and Anna E. Stigler, and dates from 1917-1926. The scrapbook chronicles Gladys' high school experiences at Western High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Stored in a scrapbook titled "My School Days," Gladys' memoirs include handwritten notes on topics such as: mottoes, song lyrics, favorite classes and teachers, least favorite classes and teachers, classmates, graduates, class officers, societies, athletics, prizes won, publications, senior day, engaged girls, superlatives, parties, and reunions. In addition to handwritten information, the scrapbook contains items such as theater programs (Century Theater, Rivoli Theater), graduation announcements and programs (Baltimore City College), photographs of Gladys and her classmates, report cards, a medal for shorthand, a dance card and pencil, a medal, letters, newspaper clippings and publications of "City Life" from Baltimore City College. The obituary of Miss Imogene George is also pasted in the scrapbook.

These materials were received by University of Maryland libraries in 2018. Upon arrival, the scrapbook was re-housed into an archival quality box. Acid-free paper was inserted between pages with newspaper clippings and photographs to aid in preservation.
