Sammy Popat is an innovation specialist and director of various University of Maryland initiatives since 2010. This collection consists of items relating to the University of Maryland such as memorabilia, pamphlets, various magazines, a 1996 campus map, a Great Expectations Campaign DVD, Len Elmore's address to students, a computer resources student manual, programs for the memorial service of Meghan E. Price and for the Sadat Lecture for Peace, and a copy of the book Chasing Aphrodite. This collection also includes photographs of University of Maryland's buildings, a basketball game, and students with President C. Daniel Mote Jr. on Terrapin Pride Day.
This collection is open to the public and must be used in the Special Collections Reading Room. Researchers must register and agree to copyright and privacy laws before using this collection.
This collection is minimally processed. This means that materials are in the same state we received them and have not been reviewed for content or condition. The collection may need to be screened prior to use. Please contact us before visiting the Special Collections reading room to view this collection. Sammy Popat is an innovation specialist and director of various University of Maryland initiatives since 2010. This collection consists of items Popat collected during his time as a student at the University of Maryland starting in 1997, and later as a full-time University of Maryland employee beginning in 2007. The collection includes pamphlets, various magazines, a 1996 campus map, a Great Expectations Campaign DVD, Len Elmore's address to students, a computer resources student manual, brochure for the memorial service of Meghan E. Price, programs for Nelson Mandela and Kofi Annan's Sadat Lecture for Peace events, a copy of the book Chasing Aphrodite, and a University of Maryland face mask during the COVID-19 pandemic. Included are memorabilia that relate to the Do Good, Stay Fearless, and I'd Rather Be Studying campaigns. This collection also includes photographs of University of Maryland's buildings, a basketball game, and students with President C. Daniel Mote Jr. on Terrapin Pride Day.

This collection was donated to the University of Maryland Libraries by Sammy Popat on February 7, 2022.
This collection has been minimally processed. Aside from some rough groupings of similar material, the collection came to the Libraries in no particular order. Small memorabilia were placed in an acid-free envelope. Similar formats of items were grouped together in acid-free folders, with the exception of a book and spiral bound manuals. Born-digital material was removed and stored separately.
