All the letters in the series were written to [William] Clay, who appears to have been Frank's brother-in-law and possibly his accountant. Series 3 contains materials relating to Clemens Lamping, his wife Helen Starr Lamping, and their eldest child, William Lamping, Jr. The largest section of this series relates to the death of Clemens's son, William.
