"Earl Durham, selected by the National Father's Day Committee as 1961 Worker-Father of the year, proudly points to the Union Labels on Brown and Williamson cigarettes, with E.G. Harvey, Tobacco Workers International Union Vice President, and E.E. Lester, President of Local 185, TWIU, AFL-CIO. Durham shop steward in the Louisville plant, is chairman of the Local's Sports committee and organizes basketball, bowling, and basketball teams in the Louisville Industrial League and among youth in the city's recreation program. Brown and Williamson was the first major cigarette firm to adopt the Union label in 1933. It is used on Raleighs, Viceroys, Kools, and other brands." - Louisville, Kentucky, 1961
