Production files, 1860, 1961-2014 and undated

 Series 1

This series consists of materials related to productions directed by Leon Major. This series contains scripts, rehearsal notes, programs, photos, costume and stage designs, correspondence, personal research, and newspaper advertisements and reviews. Within this series is also correspondence with Major's colleagues, including opera directors Herman Geiger-Torel and Nick Olcott, conductors Stephen Lord, David Angus, and John Conklin, and costume designer Martha Mann, as well as correspondence with playwrights, composers, and librettists, including Gwendolyn MacEwen, Ken Ludwig, Mark Campbell, and Robertson Davies. Two large photos associated with the productions "Sullivan and Gilbert" and "Die Fledermaus" are stored in HH2-2 and HH2-3, respectively.

The original order of these materials was preserved during processing. The arrangement is first by type of production, with operas preceding theater and musical productions, and then alphabetical by composer or author. Though this general organization system is inconsistent, the materials were kept in the original order.
