The Infiltrator – Issue 1, 1979-03
The first issue of Infiltrator, a fanzine that covered the punk and new wave music scenes in Washington, D.C. from 1979 to 1980. Edited by the pseudonymous Marie Provost, this fanzine included interviews with The Clash, NRBQ, and others, as well as features on the D.C. new wave band Urban Verbs and on the recent closing of WGTB FM, a radio station operated out of Georgetown University that had a profound impact on the nascent punk scene in D.C. Notable contributors to this issue of Infiltrator included artist Kevin MacDonald, musician Tommy Keene, writer Bruce Rosenstein, writer and future host of NPR's "All Songs Considered" Bob Boilen, Limp Records and Yesterday & Today Records owner Skip Groff, poet/writer and "Vintage Violence" fanzine editor Mike Heath, and "Capitol Crisis" fanzine editor and musician Xyra Harper.
