Cataloging, Bibliographies, and Subject Headings Committees, 1933-2009

 Sub-Group

This series is split into 3 sub-groups for clarity. The Bibliographic Control Committee (often referred to as BCC), which operated as early as 1951, branched out to include over 20 subcommittees and working groups. Among the most prominent BCC derivatives are the Subcommittee on MARC Formats (SMF) and Machine-Readable Bibliographic Information (MARBI). The Cataloging Commitee also included a MARC Committee, as well as an AARC committee and multiple working groups. The Cataloging Committee's contents include 2 published volumes of Music Library Association Catalog of Cards for Printed Music 1953-1972. The sub-group Committees Related to Cataloging includes committees that did not directly evolve from the BCC or Cataloging Committee. These committees include information on automation, indexing, and subject headings.
