Joint Files of H. Dorothy Tilly, Scott Goldwaite, and Edward E. Colby, 1944 -1951
This sub-group contains jointly maintained correspondence and subject files of MLA’s 6th, 7th, and 8th Presidents: H. Dorothy Tilly, Scott Goldthwaite, and Edward E. Colby. Records include correspondence with Notes editor-in-chief Richard S. Hill, MLA Board members, and MLA committee chairs and members. Correspondence also relates to planning national MLA meetings with regional chapter representatives. This sub-series reveals collaborative record-keeping over the courses of presidential terms, as well as the broad involvement of presidents in MLA committees during their terms in office.

Library of Congress accession in original order followed by Accession 83-106-MLA in original order.
Custodial History
Records in Box 48-MLA were transferred from the Library of Congress. Records in Box 83-MLA were donated to the University of Maryland in 1982 as the “Del Monte Papers” (Accession 83-106-MLA).
