Descenes, 1980-06

The June 1980 issue of Descenes, a tabloid fanzine that focused on the punk and underground music cultures in the Washington, D.C. area. Descenes editor Howard Wuelfing was an important early participant in the D.C. underground music scene, both as a musician (Slickee Boys, Nurses, Half Japanese) and as a fanzine creator (Descenes, Discords). This issue of Descenes includes an interview with the Washington, D.C. new wave/surf band Insect Surfers. It also includes contributions from notable figures like Jim Testa (Jersey Beat fanzine), Mary Levy (The Infiltrator fanzine), and D.C. music journalist Mark Jenkins.
