 Series 4

This series consists of a mixture of concert programs, notes, correspondence, repertoire lists, and school bulletins documenting bands Madden either performed with, directed, guest conducted, supervised, or heard. The materials document Madden's time as band director at Evanston Township and Haven High Schools as well as at Syracuse University. It also documents his time at Northwestern University as student performer and conductor through concert programs of the University Symphony, individual recitals, and high school bands clinics held at Northwestern. There are concert programs for the Legion Band, Oscar W. Anderson Band, Chicago Business Men's Orchestra, George Dasch Band, Rochester Park Band, Cleveland Orchestra, Minneapolis Symphony, Morton Concert Band, Henry Weber WGN Orchestra, Ohio State University band and orchestra, University of Chicago Band, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Glenn Bainum Band, Chicago Symphony, Bachman's Band. There are also concert programs from the high school bands of Marshall, Cleveland Heights, Hobart, Austin, Waukegan Township, Proviso, Highland Park, Geneva Community, and Boise. Richard Czerwonky, Rubinoff, Glenn Clifford Bainum, and Harold Bachman all figure prominently in this series. The documents are arranged by the level of the performing group, i.e. high school, college, professional, and then chronologically.
