The Mary de Vermond papers cover the period from 1952 to 1967; the bulk of the materials are undated. The papers consist of correspondence, writings, photographs and other materials related to Mary de Vermond's career as a writer, educator, and member of the MMEA.

Mary de Vermond served as President of the Maryland Music Educators Association from 1951 through 1953. At that time, she was a public school choral teacher at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland. Mary de Vermond later became a professor of music at the University of Maryland. She also authored several reviews for American Music Teacher, the journal of the Music Teachers National Association.
