Wolfe papers primarily consist of brochures, workshop booklets, samplers, order forms, announcements, and fliers related to the Together We Sing series published by Follett Publishing Company, which Wolfe co-authored with Margaret Fullerton. The Wolfe papers cover the period from 1952 to 1964 and include undated items.
The collection is open for research use. Materials from this collection must be used in the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library's Irving and Margery Morgan Lowens Special Collections Room during SCPA’s operating hours. Irving W. Wolfe (1903-1977) was a musician, music educator, and administrator who co-authored the Together We Sing series published by Follett Publishing Company, which Wolfe co-authored with Margaret Fullerton in 1950. Wolfe was also the head of the Music Department at Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee where, in 1942, he established the doctor of philosophy degree with a major in music. According to music educator and author Irma Collins, Wolfe was "one of the first to introduce recordings to accompany his song series (1950, 1952)" and "was also known for his interest in folk songs from around the world."
