Milne was known especially for his advocacy of Nikolai Medtner; he was the first pianist to undertake a comprehensive survey of Medtner's work since the composer's own recordings. Hamish Milne was an English pianist known for his advocacy of Nikolai Medtner. He was born in 1939, in England. Milne studied at Bishop Wordsworth's School, with Harold Craxton at the Royal Academy of Music in London, in Rome with Guido Agosti. Milne also taught at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
He made his London recital debut in 1963, and made his BBC Proms debut in 1978. During the 1970s, Milne offered a comprehensive survey of the piano music of Medtner for the first time since the composer’s own recordings.
He died on the 12th of February, in 2020.
