Hazel N. Morgan (1894-1985) was an American music educator. She received degrees from the University of Nebraska, Nebraska State Teachers College, Claremont College, the University of Minnesota, and the MacPhail School of Music. She authored numerous texts on music education and was inducted into Music Educators National Conference (MENC)’s Music Educators Hall of Fame in 1998 (the organization is now known as the National Association for Music Education (NAfME)). The Hazel N. Morgan Papers covers the period from 1896 to 1998; the bulk of the materials date from 1920 to 1980. The collection consists of both personal and professional papers including published and unpublished writings, speeches, correspondence, programs, photographs, clippings, and articles related to Hazel N. Morgan’s careers as a music educator, her involvement with MENC, and her personal projects.

The collection consists of both personal and professional papers including published and unpublished writings, speeches, correspondence, programs, photographs, clippings, and articles related to Hazel N. Morgan’s careers as a music educator, her involvement with MENC, and her personal projects.
Hazel N. Morgan was a music educator, author, and past president of the MENC North Central Division. She received her bachelor's degrees in Voice and Music Education from the University of Nebraska (1924), and in Education and History from Nebraska State Teachers College (1927), a master's degree in Education, Psychology and Music Education from Claremont College (1929), a doctoral degree from MacPhail School of Music in Voice and Music Education (1937), and a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in Education, Psychology and Music Education (1942). During her career she served as Supervisor of Elementary Music in Lincoln, Nebraska, supervisor of music in public schools in Claremont, California, Head of the Music Education Department at the University of Minnesota, graduate advisor at Northwestern University (1954-61), and Professor at Claremont Graduate School (1961-63). Hazel N. Morgan was inducted into the Music Educators National Conference (MENC)'s Music Educators Hall of Fame in 1998. The organization is now known as the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).
