The Geary Larrick papers, part of the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors records, consists of correspondence, biographical information, published writings, programs, internet search results, and scores. The collection covers the period from 1983 to the present. Acquisition of new materials is ongoing.
Geary Henderson Larrick (b.1943) is a writer, educator, and performer. His degrees include a BS from Ohio State University, a MM from the Eastman School of Music, and a DMA in Percussion and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado. As a performer, Larrick has performed in the percussion section with orchestras such as the Columbus Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, and the American Wind Symphony Orchestra. He has held teaching positions with the Newark City schools, Cambridge City schools, Wisconsin State University, and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Among all of the performance experience Larrick has gained throughout his life, he has also become a well known writer. His articles have been published in Percussive Notes Magazine and the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors (NACWPI) Journal. He also has written seven books on various percussion topics. Larrick continues to compose through his own publisher, G and L Publications, as well as perform for local elementary schools, churches, and senior centers. As of 2023, Dr. Larrick resides in Glenview, Illinois.
