Dr. Beauchamp graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor with a degree in English in 1942. She later went on to earn a master's degree at the same institution in 1948. After World War II, Beauchamp worked for the International Red Cross in the Philippines and the occupied territory of northern Japan.
