Abstract Australian-born Cyril Scott Fletcher (1904-1991) was a noncommercial, educational television pioneer. He came to educational and instructional broadcasting via Encyclopedia Britannica Films, where he oversaw the creation of films and filmstrips for the classroom. In 1951, Fletcher became president of the Fund for Adult Education, a part of the Ford Foundation. For the next ten years, Fletcher helped establish the first thirty noncommercial television stations in the United States....
