Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "A rocky point, a sea arch, and the coast road (rip-rapped with stone) as seen looking south from point about one half mile south of the village of Ginami, itself about three miles south of Hedo Misaki. Motobu peninsula is along the far skyline."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Two coarse grasses and scattered brush common to the steep-sided little hills formed where sands in the Shimajiri marl outcrop on the surface. These slopes, about 80%, are perhaps 2 miles northwest of Yonabaru, Okinawa."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Part of the village of Gagasuku along the south side of the estuary of Haneji Gawa between the stream and the low mountain slopes of Lithosols now largely cut-over and in poor forest. The low sea wall of rock is a common feature."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Mountains, including Yae Dake, high point of Motobu peninsula at 435 meters as the highest one along the skyline, in the southwestern part of the peninsula from high point in the mountains some 3 miles to the north. The area is largely in forest, some cultivation."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "The dissected land surface of the old marine terrace northwest of Ishikawa with one of the outliers of the mountains in the distance. This shows mainly the Red and Yellow Podzolic soils from marine sediments and the poor stands of forest reproduction on the. Some tea plantations lie at the foot of the distant mountain."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Landscape northeast of Toguchi with sweet potatoes on Brown Forest soil from limestone in foreground and hillside of Reddish-Brown Lateritic soil from greenstone, all in cultivation, in distance. Hillside is terraced and no rock outcrops appear. The road in the distance goes up to small basin 200 meters above sea level in distance of 1ΒΌ miles, calls for low range on the jeep part of the way."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "The village of Tamenato across an arm of Shana Wan (Shioya Minato?) and before the terraced slope of Lithosols from phyllites and sandstones, now largely in sweet potatoes. This village has a large number of tile roofs because it was hardly touched by war."
