Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Woman carrying bushel basket with tumpline (band around forehead) and her back from the fields on Hedo Misaki to the village of Ginami about 2 miles away. All sweet potatoes grown on the point are carried this way."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Terraced slopes or Reddish-Brown Lateritic to Red Podzolic soils from calcareous conglomerate and terrace sediments in sweet potatoes just southwest of Nakoshi, a village at the northeast corner of Motobu peninsula. Two women are cutting sweet potato vines on one of the terraces; a girl is carrying a bundle down the path in the valley."
