Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Cranes loading sugarcane on small flatcars (I123) to go to mill. Cane is first bulldozed into windrows, along with some earth, and cranes pick it up with grappling hooks. Earth is picked up in large quantities. This is on Maui."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "String of small flatcars loaded with cane across field that has been harvested. These are on temporary track, are to be moved by small diesel motor with caterpillar treads to fixed track on which small locomotive can operate."
