Abstract Earle H. "Bud" Gillis, Jr. (1919-2003) began his broadcasting career in the early 1940s as a radio announcer at WDAN, Danville, Illinois, and at WGBF, Evansville, Indiana. After military service, he worked as a staff announcer for WHKC in Columbus, Ohio, from 1946 to 1943.
