Abstract
The Midwest Program of Airborne Television Instruction (MPATI) was a nonprofit organization of educators and television producers who pioneered efforts to transmit instructional television programming before the advent of cable and satellite. The program began as an experiment in 1959 to use DC-6 AB planes to broadcast signals to schools. It operated through a grant from the Ford Foundation from 1961 to 1963.
