Abstract Joe F. Blair, known widely as "Joe Blair," served as the University of Maryland sports information director from 1950 until 1962, as well as the football publicist from 1988 until his death in November 1995. This collection primarily consists of photographs of the football program from the 1950s, including the "Queen's Game" in 1957. Abstract Alfred "Al" Danegger began taking photographs at the University of Maryland as a freshman in 1942, and after serving as a combat photographer during World War II, he returned to work at the university part-time, graduating in 1950. That year, he was asked by President Harry Clifton "Curley" Byrd to create and manage the University Photographic Service.
