Abstract Tobias Matthay (1858-1945) was a pianist, composer, and teacher. He wrote chamber music, piano pieces, and vocal pieces, but he is best known for his extensive, detailed writings on piano technique. Matthay also taught various pianists at the Royal Academy of Music, many of whom became eminent concert pianists.
