Audience Surveys and Ratings, 1968-1987
In 1969 CTW felt that Nielsen was not set up to provide reliable audience figures for inner-city low income areas. The Daniel Yankelovitch organization had experience in working in low income communities in recent political campaigns and was asked to survey the Sesame Street audience, beginning with the first season in 1970 and continuing for several years.
