Administrative History

The Alumni Association was organized in 1893, and reorganized in 1947 to consolidate the previously created separate professional school alumni organizations. Its purpose was to promote the interests and welfare of the university and further good relations between the university, Maryland residents, and alumni. The staff of the Alumni Office, as on-campus liaison, carried out its goals through fundraising, sponsoring social events to develop support for the university through loyal alumni, and serving on various university committees. The Alumni Office reports directly to the president of the university.
