Alumnus Dick Byer, Class of 1967, spent much of his time on campus working for various student publications, including the Diamondback and the Terrapin yearbook. He photographed scenes of student life around campus.

The collection contains color photograph slides, negatives, and some ephemera from Terrapin sporting events and campus life from 1963-1965.
This collection was donated to the University of Maryland Libraries by Richard (Dick) Byer in 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2023.
This collection has been minimally processed. The original folders were replaced with acid-free folders and assigned folder titles. In 2024, Evie Giaconia inventoried recent accessions from 2020 and 2023, and created a new finding aid for the collection.
