Jonas R. Rappeport attended the University of Maryland in the 1940s and graduated with a B.S. in 1949. While at the university, he served as a student photographer for the Diamondback, the Old Line, and the Terrapin yearbook. Rappeport later graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1952 and established himself as a notable forensic psychiatrist in Baltimore, Maryland. This collection contains approximately 120 black and white photographs taken by Rappeport at Maryland between 1942 and 1988. The majority of the images depict various aspects of student life, including banquets, dances, athletics, theater, musical performances, special events, religious life, and greek life in the 1940s. Other images include a photograph from the Queen's Game in 1957 and one of President William "Brit" Kirwan and Maryland Senator Mike Miller in 1988.
