The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life oversees the Greek system at Maryland. Its mission is to "foster, promote and support the development of a community made up of values-based organizations." This collection documents Greek life on campus. Vision checklists and Greek Life Awards application packets chronicle Greek social activities, philanthropic acts, recruitment, and academics. The collection also contains copies of Greek house leases and amendments, covering the 1950s to the 1990s, publications, newspaper clippings, and reports regarding Greek Life and issues confronting fraternities and sororities. Also included are facilities records, such as financial records, work orders, newsletters, video footage, memorabilia, awards applications, correspondence, blueprints, photographs, and a proclamation declaring "College Park Greek Day" in 1968. Preliminary inventories are available.
This collection is unprocessed and may require pre-screening. Materials from accession number 2005-142 will require pre-screening and some materials from accession number 2008-115 have been restricted.
