This collection consists of holograph and printed invitations to various cultural, social, and official functions held at the Maryland Agricultural College and at the University of Maryland. Events represented include commencements, teas, dances, dedications of buildings and other facilities, receptions, and testimonial dinners.

Scope and Content of Collection

The invitations cover the years 1895-1979, 1986-1991, 1993-2015. Events represented include commencement exercises, dances, class banquets, parties, rural women's short course activities, teas, building dedications, and lectures held by Maryland Agricultural College and the University of Maryland.

Custodial History and Acquisition Information

It is unclear when these materials were originally received by the University of Maryland Libraries. Invitations received since 1972 have been added to the collection as appropriate.

Processing Information

The invitations were placed into one series. Paper clips and staples were removed and replaced by plastic clips. The materials have been placed in acid-free folders and an acid-free box.
