Record Ratings, 1956~
Record Ratings: The Music Library Association’s Index of Record Reviews is an index compiled by Kurtz Myers, edited by Richard S. Hill, and published in New York by Crown Publishers, Inc. in 1956. The index is a cumulative printing of record reviews published in Notes from March 1948 (Vol. 5, no. 2) – June 1955 (Vol. 12, no. 3). The first Notes installment of record reviews was compiled by Philip L. Miller and Louise Pratt Howe. Kurtz Meyers compiled the reviews from the second installment onward. This sub-series contains a partial typescript draft of the index’s table of contents, galley proofs with extensive annotations, and hand-assembled mock-up pages to guide final publication. Not all pages of the final publication are represented by drafts in this sub-series. A final hardcover copy of the 1956 publication is included at the end of the sub-series.

Arrangement
Galley proofs arranged numerically by galley proof number; mock-ups arranged numerically by galley proof number; copy of final publication. A copy of the final publication is included in this sub-series rather than Series 4 (Final Publications) because it does not require its own sub-series as a single publication.
Custodial History
Galley proofs and mock-ups were transferred from the Library of Congress in 1982. The final copy of the publication was donated by the MLA Business Office in 1983 (Accession 83-149-MLA).
