Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "The girls at Aimeliik school playing a game with a volleyball, or one about that size, a little distance from the building."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Entrance to the former temple at Korortown, now being used as billet and mess hall for Navy officers who are part of the governing staff in the islands. A cobblestone road is in the foreground, and the toro, or Shinto shrine gate, is in the background."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Palauan house, indigenous architecture but with boards instead of wickerwork walls. This does have the roof thatched with pandanus, the old house style and the old-style stone courtyard under which the family dead were once buried. This is in the village of Ngebuked."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "Palauan house with thatch of pandanus leaves and wickerwork walls, woman sitting in the doorway. This approximates the indigenous architecture of the islands, now largely gone. Banana plants and betelnut palms in foreground. This is in the village of Mengellang, northern Babelthuap."

Description provided by photographer Roy Simonson reads: "The Aimeliik village school, southwestern Babelthuap Island, with boys playing ball in a yard barren of grass or other plants. The frame building has a sheet metal roof, a veranda, no glass or screens in windows. The flag is about on its last legs. Some ornamental plants in foreground."

The nearby house with sheet metal walls and pandanus thatch roof is common variety. Bananas and coconut palms included in view."
