Subject Files, 1947-1962
Concentrating on Goldfinger's CIO years, these files contain some materials he inherited from his predecessors, particularly Everett Kassalow, and some files he created during his early AFL-CIO years; it does not include files from his directorship (1963-1976). Contained in this series are materals which Goldfinger used for information or which he generated as part of his work. The materials include drafts of reports and periodical articles, newsletters, press releases, statements, correspondence, and memos. Several folders concern the Committee on Economic Policy, for which Goldfinger served as executive secretary. They include meeting agendas, committee reports, and correspondence with members of the committee.
This series also contains the following materials: CIO recommendations on amending the Defense Production Act, resolutions recommended by the research department presented at the CIO national conventions, drafts of Goldfinger's articles for "Economic Outlook," copies of "Economic Newsletter" (1954-1955 only), materials from various union schools in the 1950s and early 1960, research department meeting minutes (1951-1953 only), and lists of various CIO personnel, committees, departments, affiliated unions, and official organs.
