Young Democratic Clubs of Maryland, 1953-1970
This series documents Jo-Ann Orlinsky's association with and service to the Maryland Young Democratic Clubs, especially her term as executive secretary from 1962 to 1967. The club members were particularly concerned with electoral reform, uniform voter registration, and reapportionment of the General Assembly. They supported the Civil Rights Act of 1966, lowering the voting age to eighteen, and the truth-in-lending bill. Their Issues and Legislative Committee produced a revised constitution for the Young Democratic Clubs of Maryland and a proposed working draft of a new constitution for the state of Maryland. Included are newsletters, campaign brochures, programs and handbooks from numerous conventions, political and election commentaries, voting records, and correspondence with similar organizations in other states. Arranged alphabetically by document type and subject.
