House Judiciary Committee, 1971-2014

 Series

This series consists of four subseries with files documenting Lawrence Joseph Hogan’s work on the House Judiciary Committee (1971-1974). The series includes a specific focus on the committee’s investigation of President Richard M. Nixon’s role in the Watergate break-in on June 17, 1972, at the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate office complex in Washington, D.C. It documents the subsequent impeachment inquiry and hearings for the impeachment proceedings against President Nixon. As a member of the Judiciary Committee, Hogan was one of 38 members of the committee who presided over the formal hearings on the impeachment proceedings against President Nixon for his questionable role in the Watergate scandal and other illegal activities.

In addition, this series includes documents related to the confirmations of President Gerald Ford and Vice President Nelson A. Rockefeller for their respective positions.

Materials include correspondence, memos, transcripts, reports, press releases, newspaper clippings, magazine articles, memorandums, stenographic minutes, and audiovisual materials.
