Writings, 1954-1999 and undated

This series consists of research materials, manuscripts and drafts, publisher's proofs, correspondence, and reviews related to works written by William J. Murtagh. The bulk of the material is associated with his two published books, Keeping Time and Moravian Architecture and Town Planning. However, there are also materials connected with the publication of a number of journal articles. The series is arranged by type of publication and is divided into three sections: Keeping Time, Moravian Architecture and Town Planning, and magazine and journal articles. Arrangement within each section is alphabetical by subject.

Included in the Keeping Time section are photocopies of photographs used in the book as well as correspondence related to copyright permissions. Also included is information on illustrations considered for publication. Complete drafts of the books are organized by date when possible. Arrangement of the remaining draft material is by chapter, with additional material such as appendices and bibliographies arranged in the order in which they appear in the book.

Materials, such as research drafts and research notes, related to Murtagh's dissertation on Moravian architecture are also in this series. Included in the magazine and journal articles section are drafts of articles and copies of Murtagh's articles that appeared in print. This section is divided into drafts and published articles.
